This series. THIS SERIES. It just gets more fun with every book. Seriously, these books are ridiculously entertaining. Between the somewhat vain, mildly spoiled male lion, the hard-edged falcon, and the oodles of irreverent secondary characters (including Viktor, my favorite of the returning characters), you get a little bit of everything mixed in with a healthy dose of humor. Nolan... what do I have to say about him? Hmm. Well, I appreciate his need to daily naps (seriously). I LOVE that he's so dedicated to keeping his mane in tip top shape. While he could have come across as a spoiled, petulant brat, instead he's more like a big kid who goes with the flow and makes the best of things. All while trying to think up new ways to show his independence. I liked him, okay? I LIKED HIM! Clarice's sharp edges work nicely with Nolan's roll-with-the-punches attitude. She pushes, he pulls. She feels like she has things to prove and he likes her determination. She tells him she's not interested, he knows the truth. Once Clarice got past his playboy lion image and saw the man he was underneath, she knew she was in deep. And that's what I like about Eve Langlais books - opposites attract and they do it with humor, style, and a whole mess of inappropriate thoughts (and some naughty times in the bathroom). Score another win for FUC!
