4.75 ‘Bollocks, bitches, and Battlestar Galactica’ stars!
The collaboration of Penny Reid and L.H. Cosway (two authors who's other books I adore) was just fantastic. The Hooker and the Hermit exceeded my expectations. It was funny, as I expected, but also fresh, unique, fun, sexy and clever. The hero and heroine were both characters I loved. This was a real win for me and going straight to my favorites shelf! Annie Cartel is a hermit. Her job is to deal with those opposite of her- the famous. She is a social media expert. Have a poor image? She can turn it around. She is also, in secret, a famous blogger.
I’m the Socialmedialite. I’m that girl, the most influential infotainment blogger in the world.
She’s blogged about all sorts of people, and most take it in stride. But when she blogs about a rugby player, Ronan Fitzpatrick, she gets more than she bargained for. She gets someone who writes her back. Ronan is sick and tired of people who think they know him writing about his life. And the day he see’s the Socialmedialite’s blog post… he’s had enough. So he writes her a strongly worded letter. That same week Ronan is brought in to get his image fixed. By none other than Annie Cartel. He doesn’t know who she is, but she sure knows him. As Annie and Ronan start working together, it begins. This crazy attraction. Ronan see’s past Annie’s hermit like ways and see’s her.
“Let’s be unprofessional together, Annie.”
Annie fights her feelings every step of the way. Not only is it unprofessional to her that she dates a client, but this is the same guy she’s written about. She just can’t in good conscious go there. But once you meet Ronan, you’ll realize just how hard he can be to resist. Let me take a moment to gush about all things Ronan. Ronan is a sexy athlete, but he’s so much more than that. With the nickname ‘Mother Fitzpatrick, you know he’s the responsible one on his team. He’s funny, oh so sexy and even has moments of sweet trickled in. He’s a fantastic dirty talker and I just can’t think of anything I didn’t like about Ronan. Annie Cartel is another character that I just adored. Annie has some issues with relationships, but it’s explained very well why she is this way. It’s hard for her to be open with other people, but Ronan is somehow able to tear down some of these walls she’s built around her heart and see the real her. Not the hermit no one notices, but the woman behind all that. He see’s Annie for the woman she is.
I couldn’t believe I had this woman. This woman who seemed designed by some divine power specifically to be mine, and I was designed to be hers.
This wasn’t a completely easy road for these two, but any drama or angst was minimal and not over the top. This is a couple you will root for. You will want them to get it together so bad. Because they really do just work. Even though they are so different, something about them together just clicks. The banter they share both in real life and in their emails made me laugh out loud so many times. A book that makes me laugh AND makes me feel… well, you just can’t beat that. The collaboration was so well done, had such a flow to it, I often forgot that two authors were writing this story and not just one. If any two authors should be writing together, it should be these two. They are both wonderful in their own regards, but together they really shine. The Hooker and the Hermit is a book I think most everyone will enjoy. If you’re looking for something with loads of humor thats also sexy and a heartwarming romance, this should definitely be your next read!
“I don’t always want you to be tied up. I want you free. I want you wild. I want you brave. I want you any way I can get you.”
This was the dynamic I’d craved my whole, life but had never found a partner as perfect as my dear, sweet, gorgeous little hermit.
