★★★★ ½! Priest (stand-alone) A quest for truth & purpose becomes an erotic awaking for priest & heiress/ex-stripper! To me, this story is not so much about pushing boundaries in society but rather pushing them within yourself… It’s not about going against sacred customs and religion on the contrary it embraces divinity. And though it has plenty of kinky sex in sacred places it is a LOVE story. Priest opens up to just another day in scholar and Father Tyler Anselm Bell’s life. As the door closes behind his regular Tuesday confession a stranger enters the booth, a very mysterious stranger with sultry voice and red lipstick. New in town heiress, MBA graduate and corporate executive Poppy Danforth has come to make a confession about a less proud time in her life working as stripper for an exclusive gentlemen’s club. By next week’s confession they have a personal encounter and it’s electric. Doomed from the start, the friendship and relationship that develops is clouded in secrecy and deceit. As Poppy searches for spiritual awaking and growth, Tyler questions his purpose and a higher truth. Their fierce attraction inevitably leads to off-the-charts sex skating the edge of danger of discovery as they set out not to defy what is sacred, but to embrace it on a deeper level. Father Tyler Anselm Bell masters the balance between commanding, kinky, dirty-talking and inexhaustible lover and tender, sweet, caring, sincere and respectful friend and confidant. Poppy Danforth was a bit of an enigma throughout with story partly due to story being Tyler’s POV. Seven words to describe Poppy: Captivating, charismatic, sexy, irresistible, evasive, lost and seeking. Priest, told solely from Tyler’s POV is a glimpse into a heart-tugging struggle for truth and purpose; right and wrong; to have or not to have. Tyler is forced into questioning his choices, his existence and his future. It is not a stand against religion on the contrary. But above all this is a love story. The ending told from Poppy’s POV, offers clarity and closure. Though writing flowed I might have wished for fewer parentheses. On a side note I’d welcome Sterling’s story! Effortless dialogue and story-telling! Excellent character development! Thought-provoking plot! Sizzling sexual tension and sex scenes! Endearing, sexy and kinky hero! A love story to remember!
