The best book in the series!! I was surprised at the intensity of the book, the subject matter that was dealt with, and a twist that damn near had me falling out of my chair. Zane is everything I love in an H. Tormented, protective, passionate, bad, but oh so good, and when he falls in love, he falls hard. Zane hasn’t allowed himself, or rather doesn’t feel he deserves, to be loved for over 60 years. His job with Scanguards hangs in the balance when he acts on his desire to be with Portia, a young vampire hybrid he’s guarding. These two burned up the sheets with some SCORCHIN’ HOT LOVIN’! WOOWEE!! When he revealed his painful past to her, it broke my heart, and made me so sad. Portia treats him with respect, kindness and gives him her heart. His happiness is short-lived. WOW! Didn’t see that one coming! We get a pretty good dose of the characters from the previous books, as they are a big part of the storyline, and that was very enjoyable. I got my Dr. Drake fix, but I wish it had been a little bit more. The book was fast paced, had great dialogue, humor, a unique plot, and the writing was outstanding. Tina Folsom really knows her way around a book. Next up, Thomas and Eddie. This love connection’s been brewing in the background for a while and it’s one I’m looking forward too.
