3.5 Biker Babalicious Stars!!

Precarious: 3.5 Stars

“You gave me a chance when no one else did; you believed in me. It’s enough.” Woohoo! A new MC series by Bella Jewel! I enjoyed her previous MC series, as well as her Contemporary Adult books, so I it was a no brainer to give this a try. The synopsis was very intriguing, particularly the part where the heroine is a guard/corrections officer. A corrections officer! Yea. That’s definitely a new one. This should be interesting. “The minute I saw you, the minute you opened your mouth, there was something about you I’d never seen in a lady before. It’s not just about the fucking. Ash – it’s about the fact that you give me something no one else ever has.” When it came to careers, Ash wanted something different. She couldn’t see herself working behind a desk nor a cashier; she wanted something challenging. Being a female guard has its disadvantages, but believe it or not, she’s good at her job. She has a certain rapport with the prisoners, but in no way is she a pushover; this chick knows how to protect herself. She has good days and certainly bad days, but her life is about to change when a certain Biker is sent to her prison. Beau, a.k.a. Krypt, is sent to prison after being accused of murder. However, the witnesses are a bit sketchy on the details and still awaiting trial. He also knows that the murder was a setup from a rival MC and that he’s not completely safe in prison. Dirty guards are all over the place and make his life even more difficult. But the one person he cannot understand is Ash. Why this woman even tries to understand him is an enigma. When a transport to another prison goes wrong, he and Ash are thrust back into his world. “I’m fucking keepin’ you, Ash. Because there is no way I can go through my life without feeling that kind of intensity again.” This book was hot and certainly entertaining, I cannot deny that, but it wasn’t perfect. The story, for the most part, was well paced and kept me turning the page. Krypt and Ash…Wow! Their bedroom chemistry was ridiculously steamy…and downright kinky. The biggest thing that bothered me about their story, and kept me from giving them a full four stars, was the ending. (view spoiler)[I never really thought about the actions of Ash, Krypt and Maddox (the MC’s president) until I saw them through the eyes of Santana, Maddox’s ward (I guess you can call her that). As much as I enjoyed that MFM scene, I did feel that Ash did betray Santana. (hide spoiler)] No matter, I did enjoy this and am looking forward to Maddox & Santana’s story and more from this MC Series.

Melancholy: 3 Stars

Entertaining but the plot was kind of all over the place and I didn't really love the way the romance played out. The heroine was immature and kind of dumb the way she ran off by herself at night multiple times and got hurt. The hero was okay, I didn't like the way he was doing other women while supposedly caring for the heroine before they officially got together. The story kept me reading though. It was OK, but some of it was agrivating. Not my favorite of the series

Anguish: 4.25 Stars

What do you get when you put a biker, a baby and a nanny together? Anguish is book three in Bella Jewel’s Joker’s Wrath MC series. I am a huge fan of this author and the awesome biker series she manages to conjure up. I connect with Ms. Jewel’s writing style and always fall hard for her hard-edged and raw alpha heroes. In this series we are taken into a dark, dangerous and intriguing biker world. These men do not form part of a do-good biker club out to change the world for the better. Nope. These men are ruthless criminals and they are deadly. So what happens when one of them is given much more than he can handle? Due to her misguided judgment in the loser she decided to date and then protect, Jaylah now finds herself in a shit ton of trouble. She needs to hide out for a while and she needs some cash....desperately. Therefore, desperate times call for desperate measures and Jaylah takes on a full-time nanny position thinking that she can handle a little itty-bitty baby. Uh huh. All of a sudden she is thrust into a world of feedings, diaper changes and little sleep. But the baby is the least of her worries. It is the baby’s father that Jaylah can’t get a handle on. Oh, and did I mention he is a biker.

Mack has recently returned into the fold of the Joker’s Wrath MC, the biker club his brother leads as the President. Mack is used to a more nomadic lifestyle where there is no one to bother him as he wallows in a pit of hollowness and despair. When the sister of his ex-girlfriend shows up on his doorstep informing him that his ex-girlfriend has died and has left him with a two month old son, Mack is taken aback considering the fact that he had no idea the baby existed in the first place. Mack’s life is forever altered irrevocably and he has no idea how to handle a baby he did not ask for. He hires a nanny to take on the responsibility of caring for his son. When a whirlwind of a female that is all hair and sass saunters in and requests the nanny position, Mack has little choice but to hire her. After all, who else will put up with his surly ass?

“God, Mack, he tastes like heaven and hell, all blended together in a destructive concoction.”

Jaylah begins working for Mack and the tension between them is palpable. Mack is an ass and he makes no accommodations for the fact that he now has a female presence living in his home. Despite the “scary stay away from me” vibe Mack gives off, Jaylah is not one to hold back and she makes it known that he is pissing her off. She has got a whole lot of spunk and attitude and Mack is definitely on the receiving end of it more times than I could count. Even with Mack’s asshole ways and his tendency to shut Jaylah out, the pair begin to form a bond and soon the sexual tension that has been brewing between them can no longer be ignored. Are they brave enough to open up and allow the other in? And, when both their pasts come barreling into their lives once again, will they be able to withstand the danger and hang on to one another?

“We’re in the now. And right now, the only things I want are you and my son.”

I loved this book. For me it was the best in the series so far. Mack was definitely standoffish and broody but Jaylay was the right type of woman to stand up to him and push him out of the bubble of solitude he forced himself to live in. She was a force to be reckoned with and it was hard not to find her endearing. Jaylah certainly altered the path she was walking and the course of her destiny by strolling into the midst of the Joker’s Wrath MC and into Mack’s life. Here was a man so broken and damaged that he could not see the gift he had been given in his son. Mack was not an easy man but when he let you into his inner circle he was loyal and was there for you. He proved that by standing by Jaylah and helping her out with her troubles. Watching the pair struggle with their feelings and their lust made for a sweet, sexy and heart-warming journey. My heart is still smiling. All in all, Anguish was a wonderful read that has me anxious for 'Til Death. We meet the hero and heroine for that book in Anguish and I, for one, am so excited to see what they are all about. The release for the 'Til Death can’t come fast enough for me.
